From the Province of Quebec in Canada, this is possibly THE best maple dumplings I've ever had. I grew up making maple syrup with my Dad, we had 58 maple trees on our property, so I've had lots of maple syrup dishes in my life! Follow the recipe carefully and ENJOY! Ingredients:
1 2/3 cups real maple syrup |
1 1/4 cups water |
1 1/2 cups white flour |
4 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
10 teaspoons butter |
3/4 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Mix all dry ingredients - cut in butter with a knife until the butter is the size of peas, mix in the milk gently to obtain a soft batter (not runny) do not overmix. 2. Mix maple syrup and water in a pot that has a lid. Bring to a boil. Cook on low heat for about 5 minutes. (you can mix the dry ingredients while this is cooking). 3. Place tablespoon full of batter one at a time in the boiling syrup, cover, let simmer 15 minutes without lifting the cover. Serve immediately. |
