Maple Cream Cookies With Browned Butter Icing |

these are one of my husband's favorite cookies Ingredients:
1 cup shortening |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
1/2 teaspoon maple flavoring |
2 cups brown sugar, packed |
2 large eggs |
3 3/4 cups flour |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 cup sour cream |
6 tablespoons butter |
1 teaspoon maple extract |
1/2 cup evaporated milk |
confectioners' sugar |
Directions:
1. cream together shortening, vanilla, maple flavoring, brown sugar and eggs. 2. in a seperate bowl, stir flour and soda together; add to creamed mixture, alternately with sour cream. 3. drop onto greased cookie sheets and bake at 350* until brown. 4. do not underbake. 5. to prepare icing:. 6. melt butter until light golden brown.let cool to room temperature. 7. stir in maple extract and milk. 8. stir in confectioners' sugar until icing is thicken enough to frost cooled cookies with a thick layer of icing. |
