This crunchy treat can also be localvore. From The Onion Skin, January 2008. all-purpose flour, whole wheat pastry flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, eggs, maple syrup, vanilla, walnuts cvt Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour |
3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour |
1/2 cup cornmeal |
1 tsp. baking powder |
1/4 tsp. salt |
2 eggs |
1/2 cup maple syrup |
1 tsp. vanilla |
1/2 cup chopped walnuts |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. Mix together the dry ingredients. 2. Beat eggs and add to the flour mixture. Stir in maple syrup, vanilla, and chopped walnuts. 3. On baking tray, shape dough into two 15? logs 6 inches apart. Bake for 25-30 minutes. 4. Remove to wire rack and cool for 10 minutes; cut on diagonal into 20 slices, 1/2? thick. Place slices on baking sheet. Reduce oven to 325 and bake for 15 minutes. 5. Cool completely and store. |
