Biscuits soaked with syrup and baked. Sounded interesting. Found in The Best of Country Cooking 1998. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 cup shortening |
3/4 cup milk |
1 1/2 cups maple syrup |
Directions:
1. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles course crumbs. Add milk and stir just until moistened. 2. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; roll to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter. 3. Pour syrup into an 11x7 baking dish. Place biscuits on top of syrup. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes until they are golden brown. |
