Mandarin Orange Poke Cake

This is one of my favorite cakes. It's easy, fruity, orangey, decadent and incredible. Easy to make and bursting with great flavor. Enjoy
Ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
11 ounces mandarin oranges in light syrup
1/2 cup pecans chopped
topping
3/4 cup brown sugar packed
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons milk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 then grease a square cake pan.
2. In medium bowl place flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, egg, vanilla oranges with syrup and nuts.
3. Beat until smooth then pour batter into prepared pan and bake 40 minutes.
4. When cake is nearly done prepare topping by combining sugar butter and milk in small saucepan.
5. Bring to a boil then boil 30 seconds.
6. Remove cake from oven then carefully poke holes in cake with tines of fork.
7. Pour topping over cake then allow to cool.
8. Serve with whipped topping or ice cream.
