This is my mother's recipe. Buttery and delicious. Great topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Hope you like it. Ingredients:
1 cup butter-softened |
1/2 cup shortening |
3 cups sugar |
5 eggs |
3 cups all purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1 cup whole milk |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and shortening together with sugar until fluffy. 2. Add eggs one at a time,mixing after each addition. 3. Sift flour and baking powder together in separate bowl. 4. Add flour mixture to creamed butter alternately with milk. Mix well after each addition. 5. Stir in extracts 6. Pour batter into greased and floured tube pan. 7. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. 8. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes then turn out onto wire rack. |
