Mamas Plum Torte-kuchen

This is my mom's kuchen or torte recipe. Very simple, very delcious, with plums peeking through a sweet cake. This freezes well . Serve with whipped cream, ice cream if desired
Ingredients:
15 small italian purple plums pitted or equivelent in larger plums
sugar
cinnamon
vanilla
1 stick butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 cup flour
pinch of salt
2 tsp baking powder
more cinnamon and sugar
Directions:
1. Wash plums, dry and pitt
2. Place in a bowl and add small amt of sugar, cinnamon and vanilla and let sit about an hour.
3. Cream butter and sugar and then add in eggs and blend well.
4. Mix dry ingredients and blend into creamed mixture.
5. Place batter in a buttered 8 or 9 inch square pan.
6. Push in plums skin side down,partly into batter here and there.
7. Drizzle with any plum liquid, sprinkle with some more sugar and cinnamon.
8. Bake in a preheated 350 oven until golden and done, 45 to 1 hr
9. Cool in pan.
10. Cut from pan, serving with whipped cream, ice cream or sifted powdered sugar
