A wonderfully tender and tasty roast with all the fixings. This method of cooking came from a great butcher shop in Green Forest. This is a great roast to have on a Sunday after church. You get home, and voila! the roast is ready. Serve with some nice crusty bread and you are in comfort food heaven. Ingredients:
3 lbs roast |
6 potatoes |
1 lb carrot |
2 onions |
salt |
pepper |
Directions:
1. Important: Start this roast the night before you want to eat it! 2. Season the roast with salt and pepper. 3. Place roast in an ovenproof pot or baking dish with a lid. 4. Cut up vegetables and place on top of roast. 5. Put the lid on the pot and place it in a 225 degree oven. 6. In the morning, turn your oven off and then right back to 225 degrees (ovens often have an automatic shutoff after they have been left on for 12 hours). 7. Do not open the oven door and peek! 8. Let the roast cook until you are ready to eat in the afternoon. 9. Note: Do not add water or other liquid to this roast. You will be amazed at how much juice you will have in the pot! |
