I forgot to post one of the Cookie Exchange appetizers. This spread is so easy to make, and tastes so good...salty, nutty, creamy. It's fun to cut it out into holiday shapes for something a little extra. Another goldie oldie worth sharing. Ingredients:
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened |
4 tablespoons mayonnaise |
1 tablespoon dry ranch dressing mix |
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans |
1 cup finely chopped green olives |
dark rye, pumpernickel, or any bread of your choice |
Directions:
1. Mix together cream cheese and mayonnaise; add dry ranch mix, pecans and olives. 2. Spread onto pieces of bread, crusts removed, or on cocktail rye slices. 3. Cut bread into shapes, if desired, with cookie cutters (it wastes some of the bread and spread, but those scraps are good eatin'!) 4. This is also very good used as a “stuffing” for celery sticks, or spread on Ritz crackers, etc. Also good spread on toasted bagels, English muffins, or as a wrap sandwich spread with some chicken and lettuce or whatever you can imagine. |
