A delectable chocolate cake recipe passed down from my grandmother. Fill and frost with your favorite frosting. Ingredients:
1/2 cup cocoa |
1/2 cup milk |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 1/2 cups sugar |
3 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 cups cake flour |
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
3/4 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Cook cocoa and 1/2 cup milk together until smooth and thick; cool and set aside. 2. Cream shortening and add sugar slowly, beating well. 3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. 4. Add vanilla. 5. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with 3/4 cup milk to creamed mixture. 6. Add chocolate mixture and mix well. 7. Bake in two greased 9 inch pans at 350* for about 20 minutes. 8. Frost and fill as desired. |
