Maduros, or sautéed sweet plaintains, are a common side in the Caribbean and parts of Latin America. They can also be served as a dessert. Ingredients:
4 cups (1/2-inch-thick) slices soft black plantains (about 6) |
3 tablespoons sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 1/2 tablespoons butter |
Directions:
1. Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; toss well. 2. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add plantains; sauté 5 minutes or until browned and tender. |
