C can remember the first time V ever had this-V was 12 yrs. old. I went in to a neighbors and smelled the wonderful aroma of sautéed onion and bacon and when I asked about it, was invited to watch the whole dish and eat. I thought I was in heaven. It was so good. Ingredients:
2 cups macaroni |
4 slices bacon |
1/2 diced onion |
5 cups whole tomatoes, mashed by hand (or 1 large can juice) |
Directions:
1. Fry bacon (save bacon grease to sauté onion). 2. Sauté onion. 3. Boil macaroni according to directions. 4. Drain bacon. 5. Drain onions. 6. Drain macaroni. 7. In a pot add all including tomatoes; and season to taste with salt and pepper. Bring to high heat but don't boil (to prevent bitter tomatoes). |
