Ingredients:
6 oz ounce(s) elbow macaroni (about 2 cups) |
2 tablespoon(s) grated onion |
1 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/4 teaspoon(s) pepper |
3 cup(s) shredded process sharp american cheese (3/4 pound) |
3 tablespoon(s) butter or margarine |
2 tablespoon(s) flour |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/4 teaspoon(s) pepper |
2 cup(s) milk |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Cook macaroni. Place half the macaroni in ungreased 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with half the onion, salt, pepper and cheese; repeat. Pour white sauce over casserole. 2. For white sauce: Melt 2 tbs butter in saucepan over low heat. Blend in flour, salt and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. 3. Dot casserole with butter. Cover; bake 30 minutes. Uncover; bake 15 minutes longer. |
