This recipes if from a friend's mother. Mrs. Schroeder Ingredients:
1 cup elbow macaroni |
2 tbs butter |
3 tbs flour |
1 cup milk |
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce |
1/4 tsp dry mustard (opt) |
1/2 tsp salt |
1/8 tsp pepper |
2 cups grated american cheese |
1/2 cup buttered bread crumbs |
Directions:
1. Cook macaroni. Drain. Melt butter in heavy saucepan. Add flour, stirring until smooth. Add milk gradually. Cook over med. heat, stirring until thickened. Add onion and Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle mustard, salt and pepper over sauce. Blend. Add macaroni and 1 1/2 cups cheese. Mix well. Pour into 1 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with remaining cheese and crumbs. bake 375 for 25 minutes. (350 for a glass casserole dish). |
