Betty Crocker cookbook from the 80's Ingredients:
3 cups elbow macaroni |
1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 cup flour |
3 1/2 cups milk |
1 lb cheese |
Directions:
1. .Cook macaroni and drain. Rinse with cold water. 2. Cook and stir margarine, onion, salt and pepper over medium heat until onion is tender. 3. Blend in flour. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until mixture is smooth and bubbly; remove from heat. 4. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. 5. Stir in cheese until melted. 6. Stir macaroni into cheese sauce. Pour into ungreased 3 qt casserole. 7. Bake uncovered at 375* for 30 - 40 minutes. |
