This is another recipe that has been in my family for at least 30-40 years. It is a bar-type chocolate chip cookie. I have no idea where the name came from! Enjoy! Ingredients:
2/3 cup butter |
1 lb brown sugar |
3 eggs |
2 1/2 cups flour |
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
12 ounces chocolate chips (1 bag) |
chopped nuts (as desired) (optional) |
Directions:
1. Melt the butter in a heavy 3 quart saucepan. 2. Add the brown sugar and heat until the sugar is dissolved, cool in the pan. Note: do not heat too long, or let completely cool, or the sugar will get very hard and you won't be able to mix in the other ingredients. 3. While still in the pan, add the eggs, flour, baking powder and salt and mix well. Note: this is what the original recipe said. You could also transfer to a mixing bowl and continue from there. 4. Add the chocolate chips and nuts (if desired). 5. Pour into a greased 9 x 13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees F. for 30-35 minutes. 6. Cut into bars while warm. |
