Ingredients:
1 tablespoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/4 teaspoon allspice |
1/2 cup whole wheat flour |
5 tablespoons cornstarch |
1/2 cup splenda granular |
5 -6 large gala apples, peeled and cored |
1 frozen 9-inch deep dish pie crust |
4 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons honey |
2 tablespoons sugar-free maple syrup |
1 -2 cup granola cereal |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°F. 2. In a bowl, combine cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, flour, cornstarch and Splenda. Mix very well. 3. Slice apples. 4. Place a generous 1/4 cup of spice mixture in bottom of pie crust. Cover with a layer of apples, then continue alternating layers of spice mixture and apples until all the apples are in the crust; end with the spice mixture. 5. Dot the top with half the butter. Drizzle with honey and maple syrup. Spread granola over top of pie and dot with remaining butter. 6. Place pie (on a cookie sheet to catch spills) into preheated oven for 10 minutes. Turn heat down to 375°F and bake another 45 minutes. |
