Everyone tells me that you can't make good lowfat biscuits, but I think that this recipe proves them wrong. These are tender, but hearty with a little whole wheat flour. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
1/2 cup whole wheat pastry flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 tablespoons vegetable oil |
1 cup nonfat plain yogurt |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 400. 2. Combine all-purpose and pastry flour with baking powder and salt. 3. In a separate bowl, combine yogurt and oil. 4. Blend yogurt mixture into flour mixture just until the dry ingredients are moistened and it forms a dough. 5. On a floured surface, pat the dough out into a circle 3/4-inch thick. 6. Using a knife or a pizza cutter, cut the circle into eight wedges. 7. Place wedges on an oiled baking sheet or a baking stone. 8. Bake for 20 minutes or until a knife iserted in the center comes out clean. |
