When you can't have the real shepherds pie, because of your diet, this is the next best thing. You can also use the hamburger meat. Ingredients:
2 bunchs cauliflower |
2 packages ground turkey sausage or you can still use hamburger |
1 can tomato sauce |
2 tablespoons sofrito frozen seasoning bacon bits |
1 ounce mozzarella cheese |
1 ounce parmesean cheese |
2 pinch pepper black |
1 ounce heavy cream |
3 pinch sea salt |
4 tablespoons butter |
Directions:
1. Steam 2 heads of cauliflower until they are fork tender. 2. Brown ground turkey and drain. Place back in pan and add the 3. tomato sauce, salt and pepper to taste, 2 tablespoons of sofrito 4. (you can find this in the freezer section of your supermarket usually 5. together with the Goya products..it's a frozen mixture of red 6. peppers, green peppers, onions, garlic, parsley, and cilantro.) and 7. 1 package of sazon..also in your goya section. 1 little packet FULL 8. of flavor. 9. Mix well in meat. Drain cauliflower and mash with your potato 10. masher. Sprinkle salt and pepper to taste and add heavy cream 11. and butter. Mash like mash potatoes. Spread turkey along the 12. bottom of a baking dish, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top, then 13. add your layer of mashed cauliflower and sprinkle with parmesean 14. cheese. 15. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until top is golden brown. 16. Spoon out and serve! |
