Lombardy Cabbage Soup

A really healthy hearty soup...absolutely wonderful to cut through the chill of a winter's day. Appetizer or brunch.
Ingredients:
2 1/2 lbs peeled potatoes
1 large chopped onion
3 tbsolive oil
salt
2 lb approx sliced and roughly shredded cabbage (lombardy)
3 chopped/sliced carrots
1 chopped/sliced turnip
4 oz macaroni
Directions:
1. Cook the potatoes and onion in water or broth.
2. Once they are cooked, puree them with a blender.
3. Leave the mixture over the heat and add the cabbage, carrots and turnip.
4. Bring to the boil and then leave to simmer.
5. Add the pasta and allow to cook.
6. Add salt to taste.
