I have made many apple crisp recipes, glorified and all. This recipe is made with brown sugar, butter, flour, apples, that's all! When I was little, I made this, standing on a stool, hence, Little Chef...Easy.Simple. Ingredients:
1 stick unsalted butter, softened |
3/4 cup flour |
1 cup brown sugar |
apples sliced thinly to cover bottom of 8x8 dish or pan |
a little cinnamon if you want to |
a few chopped nuts, if you want to |
note: this recipe has no oats, no white sugar. the mixture of only brown sugar, butter and flour is special |
Directions:
1. Cover bottom of 8x8 pan or dish with thinly sliced apples 2. (If real tart apples, may sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar) 3. Sprinkle top of apples with cinnamon, if using 4. Sprinkle nuts over apples if using 5. Mix softened (not melted) butter, flour, brown sugar with pastry blender or with hands, until crumbly 6. Sprinkle on top of apples, covering all 7. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 35-45 minutes (have baked at 325 a little longer) 8. NOTE: May double recipe for larger dish. Some apples have more juice, so could add a little sprinkle of water over apples before topping with crumb mixture. 9. SUGGESIONS: This is wonderful spooned OVER ice cream, or dolloped with whipped cream. VERY SIMPLE-VERY DELICIOUS! |
