~Country Biscuits~ Ingredients:
3 cups flour |
2 tablespoons sugar |
1 tablespoon.. and again 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar |
3/4 teaspoon salt |
3/4 cup crisco |
1 farm fresh egg,beaten |
3/4 cup fresh cows milk |
Directions:
1. Combine the first 5 ingredients,mix well. 2. Cut in Crisco,until the mixture looks like coarse meal. 3. Combine the egg and milk,add to flour mixture,stir until moistened. 4. Turn the dough onto a floured counter,knead about 10 time..do not over work. 5. Roll dough to 1 thickness,cut with 2 1/2 Biscuit cutter. 6. Place biscuits on ungreased baking sheet. 7. Bake in a 450 degree oven,for about 15 minutes(or)until a golden brown. 8. Serve.. with Ham,Eggs,Fried Potatoes,Red Eye Gravy,and Field Hand Coffee. 9. ~ As I was walking across the corral as a little kid one day,wearing my Big Brothers,hand-me-down jeans,my Dad howlered out...
