The traditional accompaniment to a tri-tip barbecue in central California is buttery, garlic-soaked toasted bread. Yum! Ingredients:
1 loaf french bread (about 1 pound) |
4 ounces (1 stick) butter |
2 cloves garlic, minced |
Directions:
1. Prepare a fire in a barbecue or preheat a broiler. 2. Cut French bread in half lengthwise. Place butter and garlic in a large roasting pan and heat over the barbecue or on top of a stove until butter melts. Place bread halves, cut sides down, on the barbecue grate and cook until toasted golden brown (if using a broiler, toast bread cut sides up until golden brown). Lift bread off barbecue (or remove from broiler) and place face down in melted butter mixture in roasting pan; push the bread around a bit to get the butter to soak in. Remove bread from butter and tear into pieces or slice to serve. |
