1/2 cup butter or margarine |
2 medium onions, diced |
2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes |
1 (10 1/4-ounce) can tomato puree |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 cup chopped fresh basil |
Directions:
1. Melt butter in a Dutch oven; add onion, and sauté until tender. Add tomatoes and remaining ingredients; cook over medium-high heat, stirring often, 20 minutes. |
