The title of this recipe belies the rich, old-fashioned flavor of the biscuits. Use a reduced-calorie stick margarine that is 41% to 60% oil for this recipe. Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 tablespoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 cup reduced-calorie stick margarine |
1 (8-ounce) carton plain low-fat yogurt |
1 teaspoon honey |
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°. 2. Combine first 4 ingredients in a medium bowl; cut in margarine with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Combine yogurt and honey; add to flour mixture, stirring with a fork just until dry ingredients are moistened. 3. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon flour over work surface. Turn dough out onto floured surface; knead lightly 4 or 5 times. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut into rounds with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 425° for 10 minutes or until golden. |
