These wings are THE BOMB! Since I can't eat any tomato products, I found myself experimenting with items in my kitchen & came up with this. Hope you enjoy...Keep in mind that I didn't measure ANY of the ingredients, so I'm guesstimating; after tasting, adjust to your own tastes, . Read more .Use your fingers for some SERIOUS finger-lickin action! Ingredients:
1 four-pound bag of party wings (or use regular wings, cut into pcs) |
marinade |
2 t garlic powder |
1 t onion powder |
2 t liquid smoke |
1/2 c red wine (or white) |
1 t coarse sea salt |
1/2 t paprika |
1 t crushed red pepper flakes |
glaze |
1/4 c orange juice |
1/2 c honey |
1/2 c dark corn syrup |
1/4 c light corn syrup |
1/4 c rum or whiskey (yes, this makes them the life of the party |
1/2 c applesauce (do at the end to thicken this sauce) |
2 t pepper sauce (try tabasco) |
1/2 c jelly (i used grape & apple 'cause that's what i had on hand!) |
1/4 c brown sugar |
1 t crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to your heat quotient) |
1/2 t paprika |
Directions:
1. Combine marinade ingredients in large bowl & stir. 2. Place chicken in bowl & toss so that the marinade coats it well; allow to chill overnite (or a few hours) 3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 4. Place chicken in foil pan (easiest cleanup!) & bake, uncovered for about 30 mins. 5. While chicken is baking, prepare the glaze in a medium-size sauce pan. 6. Stir well, and let it come to boil before reducing heat to low & let it simmer. It should thicken nicely at this point...if it's still a little thin, stir in 2 T mayo. 7. After 30 miins, remove chicken from oven & allow to rest about 5 mins. Pour glaze over the wings & return to oven for about 10 minutes. 8. JUST did this for today's holiday potluck work; I'm getting ready to rush out the door, but I'll try to post picture later today ~ ENJOY! ~ |
