Has flour, milk, eggs, and butter. Very old recipe. This recipe does not have cinnamon or nutmeg but you could add it if you like. I have made this and it is heartier than regular French toast and is great with butter, syrup, and ham slices. Mr. picky ate it and said it tasted just like his Mom's, yipeee. It will look frothy when you fold in egg whites; just dip the bread in; it is okay. Ingredients:
6 tablespoons flour |
1/2 cup milk |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon butter, melted |
2 egg yolks |
2 egg whites, beaten stiff |
8 slices bread |
3 tablespoons butter |
Directions:
1. Beat flour, milk, salt, melted butter, and egg yolks together. 2. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. 3. Dip bread slices into mixture. 4. Fry in 3 Tablespoons butter until golden. |
