Libbie's Creamed Asparagus over Toast |

This is how they make asparagus around my dh's house. It is enough to make a meatless meal. It's very satisfying. Ingredients:
1 lb asparagus |
3 tablespoons flour |
1/2 cup milk |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
6 slices bread, toasted |
Directions:
1. Cut asparagus into 1 inch pieces; cover with water and boil until tender. 2. Add flour to milk; stir so there are no lumps. 3. Drain asparagus, keeping 1 cup liquid. 4. Add the milk mixture, salt and pepper. Cook until thick. 5. Meanwhile, toast the bread, cut into points (halves). 6. Pour creamed asparagus over toast. |
