Lentil Soup With Ham

Nice savory lentil soup like my dad used to make.
Ingredients:
1 meaty ham bone or ham hock
6 cups water
1 1/2 cups dried lentils
2 cups sliced carrots
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp pepper
1 bay leaf
Directions:
1. Combine all ingredients in stock pot and bring to boil.
2. Reduce heat and simmer for 60 minutes or until lentils are tender.
3. Remove ham from soup and dice meat.
4. Return meat to soup.
5. Remove bay leaf and serve.
