This would be good on a Cold winter day Ingredients:
2 smoked ham hocks |
2 large onions |
1 lb lentils, washed (non processed) |
1 ounce paprika |
salt and pepper |
1/8 teaspoon thyme |
water |
1 carrot, cut into pieces |
1 lb polish sausage, cut into pieces |
Directions:
1. Place ham hocks in large kettle and heat gently to render some fat. 2. Add onions and cook until golden brown. 3. Add lentils and carrot. 4. Stir. 5. Add enough water to cover. 6. Add paprika,salt and pepper. 7. Bring to a boil,stir and cover. 8. Turn off the heat and let stand for an hour or more. 9. Reheat and stir. 10. Again add water to cover and cook gently until lentils begin to disintergrate. 11. Cook sausage in the soup and add thyme. 12. Serve hot. |
