A tasty alternative to hamburgers and an economical alternative to ready made vegetarian burgers. Use lentil burgers like regular burgers with all the trimmings on a whole wheat bun OR make a vegetarian gravy and use in place of salisbury steak. Lentils are a good source of protein and fiber. Ingredients:
2 c cooked lentils |
1/4 c egg beaters |
1/2 c saltine crackers, crushed |
1/2 c onion, minced |
8 oz tomato sauce |
Directions:
1. Combine ingredients, using only enough tomato sauce to hold mixture together. 2. Shape into patties. 3. Spray frying pan with non-stick spray and fry patties until golden brown on each side and heated throughout. |
