This is a rather odd dish. It seems to be a sort of bread pudding to be served during lent (no eggs or dairy products). Ingredients:
2 cups almond milk |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1 pinch saffron (optional) |
1/2 cup dates, chopped |
1/2 cup raisins |
3 slices bread (toasted) |
Directions:
1. Combine almond milk, sugar and salt, and bring to a low boil. 2. Add saffron if desired. 3. Simmer for about twenty minutes and then add remaining ingredients. 4. Continue cooking until well mixed and then pour into bread pan or mold. 5. Chill well, slice, and serve (chilling will take about 2 hours). |
