This recipe originated at my grandmothers house in the early 60's becuase the soup was inexspensive. We would'nt touch it by the cans preperation suggestion. My grandmother decided to kick it up a notch ,because she was a grand chef herself. She created this blend of ingrediants so us kids would eat it and then I added to it with a bit more to please the belly. So it became to be know by my children and grandchildren as Len's Tomatoe Soup and it all started by my wonderful grandmother.I hope you enjoy it as all of us did for many years. In closing if you have a crowd just multiply this recipe and it all works the same,GREAT. Ingredients:
1 (12 ounce) can condensed tomato soup |
12 ounces whole milk (substitute 2 % is ok also) |
1/8 cup butter or 1/8 cup margarine |
2 tablespoons sugar |
2 whole meat hot dogs (sliced into chips or leave out if you do not like) |
3/4 ounce slice american cheese (can be left out if you do not like) |
Directions:
1. Min soup, milk and sugar well in suace pan. 2. Heat to almost rolling and add butter, cheese and hot dogs. 3. Stir in and reduce to simmer for 10 minutes. 4. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes. 5. Enjoy with crackers or alone.I prefer buttered bread with mine. |
