Reading over the ingredients, I couldn't imagine how this would taste, so I had to try it. Unusual and delicious! From Porches Restaurant, Mississippi, via the Today newspaper. Ingredients:
1 small onion |
32oz green beans |
1/2 stick (1/4 cup) real butter |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
6oz lemonade concentrate |
Directions:
1. Chop onion. Drain and rinse beans. 2. Combine all ingredients and add water to cover. 3. Bring to a boil, mixing well. 4. Simmer 10 minutes. 5. Refrigerate overnight or longer. (The longer it sits in the fridge, the more the flavors blend.) 6. Warm and serve. 7. I plan to try next time with frozen green beans that I cook ahead of time, and maybe I'll add some pine nuts when serving. |
