Want something unique: Try this lemon flavored marigold cake! it makes a nice tea time dessert and a conversation recipe Ingredients:
12 oz cream cheese softened |
1 cup butter or margarine softened |
6 eggs separated |
2/3 cup sugar |
1 cup ground almonds |
2 tbs. minced fresh lemon balm or lemon verbena leaves |
2 tsp grated lemon peel |
2 tsp fresh minced marigold petals ( washed and dried ) |
additional lemon balm /verbena and marigold blossoms for garnish |
Directions:
1. Beat cream cheese, butter, yolks and sugar until light and fluffy. 2. Stir in almonds, lemon balm, lemon peel and marigold petals. 3. In another bowl beat whites until stiff peaks and gently fold into cream cheese mixture. 4. Pour mixture into a greased 9 inch springform pan. 5. Place on baking sheet. 6. Bake 350F about 55 minutes until golden brown and the sides pull away from pan. 7. Cool one hour and remove sides of pan and cool completely. 8. Garnish with the lemon balm and blossoms. 9. Chill well. 10. Texture like a cheesecake! 11. Serves 12 . |
