LEMON SAUCE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Wager Estate in Laredo, Texas in 1988. Ingredients:
2 cups water |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
2 tablespoons butter |
1 drop yellow food coloring |
8 packets sugar substitute |
rind of 1 lemon grated |
Directions:
1. Combine water, cornstarch and salt then stir until smooth in a small saucepan. 2. Cook and stir over moderate heat until thickened and clear. 3. Simmer stirring constantly for 2 more minutes then remove from heat. 4. Add remaining ingredients to sauce and stir lightly to mix well. |
