Orange Freezer Jelly offers a splash of citrus flavor to start your day. Makes 5 (1 cup) containers. I have not tried this, just posting for safe keeping. Ingredients:
2 cups orange juice |
1/4 fresh lemon juice |
4 1/2 cups sugar |
3/4 cup water |
3 ounces sure-jell (1 box) |
Directions:
1. Rinse clean plastic containers and with boiling water. Dry thoroughly. Pour orange and lemon juices into a large bowl. Stir in sugar. Let stand 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 2. In a small saucepan, mix water and pectin. Bring mixture to a boil over high heat, stirring for 1 minute. Stir pectin mixture into juice mixture. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved and no longer grainy, about 3 minutes. (A few sugar crystals may remain). 3. Fill containers quickly to within 1/2 -inch of tops. Wipe off top edges of containers; quickly cover with lids. Let stand at room temperature 24 hours. Jelly is now ready to use. Store in refrigerator up to 3 weeks or freeze extra containers up to 1 year. Thaw in refrigerator. |
