This is a great fondue for the holidays! Ingredients:
1 c sugar |
1/2 c cornstarch |
1/2 tsp salt |
4 c water |
1/2 c butter |
1/4 c lemon juice |
1/4 c lime juice |
1 tbsp each grated lemon and lime peel |
gingerbread cubes, meringues, sliced fruit, pound cake cubes, etc. for dipping. |
Directions:
1. In a heavy saucepan combine the sugar, cornstarch, and salt. 2. Stir in the water until smooth then bring to a boil over medium heat. 3. Cook and stir for about 2 minutes or until thickened. 4. Remove the pan from the heat and add the butter, lemon and lime juice, and lemon and lime zest and stir until butter is melted. 5. Transfer to a fondue pot and keep warm. 6. Serve with gingerbread, etc as dippers. 7. Makes about 5 cups. |
