Very good frosted cookies.... you can decorate them for the different occasions.....This is a old recipe...out of the Capitol Cookies Cookbook Ingredients:
2 cups sifted flour |
4 tablespoons sugar |
4 heaping tablespoons shortening |
1 teaspoon lemon extract |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 cup milk |
1 egg |
frosting |
2 cups confectioners sugar |
1/3 cup shortening |
enough heated milk to make spreading consistency. |
Directions:
1. Sift flour; add baking powder and sugar and sift again. 2. Cut in shortening and add milk, egg, and lemon extract. 3. Blend thoroughly. 4. Flour hands and pinch out about 1 teaspoon dough and roll into a ball. 5. Repeat process and place on greased cookie sheets, 2 1/2 inches apart. 6. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. 7. Frosting: 8. Mix sugar together with shortening and milk. 9. Blend together until smooth. 10. Spread on cooked cookies then decorate with nuts, coconut, colored candies etc..... |
