Grandma Roberts always made the most wonderful custards. They were light, lemony and a special treat made with lots of love. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of butter |
1 cup of sugar |
4 tablespoons of flour |
1/2 teaspoon of salt |
5 tablespoons of lemon juice |
grated rind of one lemon |
3 eggs, separated |
1 1/2 cups of milk |
Directions:
1. Cream butter, add sugar, flour, salt, lemon juice and rind. 2. Add beaten egg yolks and milk. 3. Beat egg whites until stiff. 4. Gradually blend the two together. 5. Pour into 6 buttered custard cups. 6. Set cups in pan and fill pan with water halfway up the cups. 7. Bake at 325 degrees 30 minutes until set and lightly brown. |
