Ingredients:
1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened |
2 cups sugar |
2 eggs, beaten |
1/4 cup milk |
2 teaspoons lemon extract |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
colored sugar, optional |
Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. 2. Add eggs, milk and extract. 3. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. 4. Cover and chill for 2 hours. 5. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/8-in. thickness. 6. Cut with a 2-in. cookie cutter dipped in flour. 7. Place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. 8. Sprinkle with colored sugar if desired. 9. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-9 minutes or until the edges just begin to brown. 10. Remove to wire racks to cool. 11. Yield: about 13 dozen. |
