A handy bread that keeps well. Great as an after-school snack. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 lemon |
3/4 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter |
4 egg whites |
1/2 cup skim milk |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Cream butter, sugar, add eggs and milk. 2. Sift and add dry ingredients. 3. Add rind. 4. Beat well. 5. Pour in loaf pan, wel1-greased, and bake at 325° for one hour. 6. Mix juice of lemon and 1/4 cup. 7. sugar and brush over warm baked bread. 8. Let cool in pan. |
