Shaolin Gardens provided me a generous supply of lemon basil. Lemon basil is a hybrid between basil and African basil and has a strong fragrant lemon scent. These varieties of Basil are freshly citrus scented and are mild enough for flavoring grilled fish or shrimp salad. Read more . Pasta dishes with vegetables and chicken are delicious with the citrus basils. The plants will grow to about 2' tall and around. I made this dressing initially to accent a chilled cucumber and jicama salad. Ingredients:
1 cloves garlic clove |
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper |
1 tsp dijon mustard |
1 tbsp rice vinegar |
1 tsp lemon zest |
1 lemon, fresh squeezed |
1 medium roma tomato, raw |
3 tbsp lemon basil, fresh |
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil |
Directions:
1. In a blender or food processor, blend all ingredients except olive oil, salt and pepper. Slowly incorporate olive oil into other ingredients by pouring in a steady stream. Blend for 30 seconds.
