Cook time is 400 degrees F for 35 minutes or until apples are tender and crust is golden. Ingredients:
pastry for 1-crust pie |
1/2 lemon, grated peel and juice |
1/2 c. water |
3/4 c. sugar |
2 tblsp. flour |
1/8 tsp. salt |
1/4 tsp. nutmeg |
4 c. peeled apple slices |
2 tblsp. butter or margarine |
cream or ice cream |
Directions:
1. Simmer lemon juice and peel with water about 5 minutes. 2. Combine sugar, flour, salt and nutmeg. 3. Blend into lemon mixture. 4. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened. 5. Add apples and butter. 6. Pour into a 6 x10 x2 pan or 9 pie pan. 7. Cover top with rolled pastry and flute against pan. 8. Cut steam vents. 9. Bake in hot over (400 degrees F.) until apples are tender and crust is golden, about 35 minutes. 10. Serve in bowls with cream or ice cream. 11. Makes 5 servings. |
