Lean (But Not Mean) Hot Brown Casserole |

Most kentuckians love the Hot brown sandwich. But it is anything but friendly on your waitsline. This casserole has the great flavor of hot brown but it is leaner and healthier. in this recipe I wouldn't dream of using less than boar's head ovengold turkey Ingredients:
1/4 cup margarine |
1/4 cup flour |
2 cups skim milk |
1 tablespoon chicken bouillon |
6 slices muligrain bread, toasted |
1 lb thin sliced turkey |
2/3 cup shredded lowfat cheese |
2 tomatoes, sliced |
3 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled |
Directions:
1. Melt margarine in a saucepan. 2. stir in flour to make a roux. 3. gradually whisk in milk and boullion. 4. cook for five minutes, stirring constantly. 5. Remove from heat and set aside. 6. put toast in a greased 13x9 inch pan. 7. layer turkey on toast. 8. spoon on sauce. 9. add cheese, bacon and tomatoes. 10. bake on 350 degrees for 30 minutes. |
