Lazy Cabbage Roll Casserole |

This is a great recipe I came across in an old Homecoming cookbook. My son loved it and he's not a big fan of cabbage. The only changes I made to this recipe: adding more rice; I mixed all the ingredients together rather than layer; and I blanched the cabbage for a few minutes before adding it to the mixture. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1 onion, chopped |
1 teaspoon salt |
pepper, to taste |
1/4-1/2 cup water |
garlic powder, to taste |
3 teaspoons worcestershire sauce |
1 cup tomato soup |
1/2 cup rice |
3 cups shredded cabbage |
1 cup grated cheese |
Directions:
1. brown ground beef. 2. add onions, salt, pepper, garlic powder, salt and Worcestershire sauce, cook until golden. drain excess fat. 3. add soup, water and rice, mix well. 4. add cabbage 5. if layered - put cabbage at bottom of casserole dish. pour meat mixture over cabbage. 6. Top with cheese. 7. Cover and bake at 325 degrees F for 1 1/2 hours. |
