This cake is so moist it is unbelievable. The taste is very unique and different but one of the best cakes I have ever eaten. Topped off with cream and strawberries you are talking heavenly. Yummo Ingredients:
1 tablespoon softened butter for baking dish |
1 cup granulated sugar |
5 large eggs separated |
1/3 cup milk |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 cup flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
12 ounce can evaporated milk |
14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk |
1 cup heavy cream |
2 tablespoons vanilla |
whipped cream |
fresh strawberries |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. Butter a rectangular baking dish. 3. In medium size bowl beat egg yolks with 3/4 cup sugar for 5 minutes. 4. Gently stir in milk, vanilla, flour and baking powder and set aside. 5. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form adding remaining sugar and continue beating until whites are stiff and shiny but not dry. 6. Gently fold the whites into yolk mixture. 7. Pour batter into baking dish. 8. Bake cake on middle rack of oven for 45 minutes. 9. Let cake cool slightly before unmodling onto a large deep platter. 10. Mix evaporated milk, condensed milk and heavy cream in a saucepan then bring to a boil while stirring constantly. 11. Add vanilla. 12. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly then slowly pour milk syrup over cake spooning overflow back on top until syrup is completely absorbed. 13. Allow to cool completely. 14. Garnish with whipped cream and strawberries. |
