I've had this recipe for over 20 years. I noted that the source was the American Heart Association, which is surprising considering how much meat & cheese is in it. Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder |
1 tablespoon parsley |
1 tablespoon basil |
2 1/2 cups canned tomatoes, diced |
8 ounces tomato paste |
8 ounces lasagna noodles |
1 pint cottage cheese |
2 eggs, beaten |
2 tablespoons parsley |
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated |
1/2 teaspoon pepper |
1 lb mozzarella cheese, sliced |
Directions:
1. Cook beef until lightly browned. 2. Add garlic powder, 1 T parsley, basil, tomatoes, tomato paste and salt to taste; simmer, uncovered, until thick, about 45 minutes. 3. Combine cottage cheese, eggs, 2 T parsley, parmesan and pepper. 4. In 13 X 9 pan layer noodles (no need to cook the noodles first), meat sauce, cottage cheese mixture and mozzarella; repeat layers. 5. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. |
