Should make about 12 batches of lovely biscuits! MUST be stored carefully in freezer or (shorter time) in refrigerator. Ingredients:

18 cups flour |
1/3 cup sugar |
4 2/3 cups powdered milk |
1 tablespoon salt |
2/3 cup baking powder |
2 cups shortening |
1 cup applesauce (**to cut down on fats used |
**may use more shortening (if desired) |
2 sticks butter (not margarine) |
Directions:
1. In a VERY large pan, stir the dry milk, baking powder, sugar and salt into the flour; mix thoroughly. 2. Cut the shortening, butter, and applesauce into the dry ingredients until the MIX is the consistency of corn meal. 3. Place the mix in a covered glass or plastic container and keep in refrigerator or freezer! (must be kept DRY also). 4. Use within a month from refrigerator or may keep for several months in the freezer. 5. To make the biscuits: (makes 8-10 biscuits) 6. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7. To measure, pile the MIX lightly into a cup and level off with a spatula or the back of a knife. 8. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 9. 2 cups of the mix 10. Preheat oven to 425. 11. Stir in just enough milk or buttermilk to form a soft dough. 12. Knead and handle as little as possible.(important!) 13. Roll out into floured board and cut into 2 inch rounds. 14.
