CHEWY SWEET DELICIOUS Ingredients:
country coffee cake |
2 c. light brown sugar |
2 c. flour |
3/4 c. shortening (can use equivalent in real butter |
not margarine) |
1 egg |
1 tsp. vanilla |
1 tsp. almond extract |
1 c. hot coffee |
1 tsp. baking soda |
toasted almonds (optional) |
Directions:
1. Mix sugar, flour and shortening until lumpy. Do not mix until creamy. Take out 1 cup for topping. 2. Dissolve soda in hot coffee and add to the flour mixture. 3. Also add egg and vanilla. 4. Spread in sheet pan 9x12x2 inch and sprinkle on topping. 5. This is a thin batter. Bake at 325-350 degrees approximately 30 minutes. 6. ============================================ 7. Sprinkle with powdered sugar after baked.OR (better)>> 8. Delicious drizzled with cream cheese icing and topped with toasted almonds! 9. ============================================ |
